"Why Purchase Handcrafted Olive Oil Soaps? Isn't all soap the same? "
No! All soap is not the same. Lets compare store "bath bars" to our handcrafted Olive Oil Soap using food as an example.
A grocery store "bath bar" is about as good for your skin as a $5 fast food lunch with an extra large soft drink. Loaded with everything your body doesn't need, and nothing it desperately needs.
An Olive Oil Soap is equal to a lovely lunch of a vitamin packed salad drizzled with olive oil with a nice glass of grapefruit juice.
In fact, did you know that the bars you buy in the grocery store aren't even real soaps? The next time you are at the store, take a peek at the packaging. It will not say soap. It will say "Bath Bar", Beauty Bar", "Family Bar", "Cleansing Bar".
Real soap is quite simple. Fat+Water+Sodium Hydroxide=Soap. The fat (oils) used can vary greatly. Our soaps have a very high percentage of olive oil (over 50%!). Regardless of the oils, that is the science behind real soap. When the saponification process is complete (about a month) you have a lovely bar of real soap, loaded with skin loving oils, vitamins, antioxidants, and natural glycerin. This is why your skin is soft and wonderful after bathing.
Bath Bars from the grocery store aren't quite as simple. First, they start off with beef tallow (it's true), then they make the soap. It does start off as real soap. But then something goes terribly wrong. They mechanically remove all of the glycerin from the soap (to use to make other products like shampoo), then pump the bars with chemicals and detergents. Now it is no longer soap. Once you remove the glycerin, it's something else.
This is why your skin is dry and tight after bathing.
As you can see, there really is no benefit to buying an 80 cent grocery store soap. |
